Overview

Every year, the streets of Humboldt Park in Chicago come alive for the Annual Puerto Rican Festival, one of the largest Latino cultural festivals in the Midwest. The festival celebrates the heritage, culture, and traditions of Chicago’s Puerto Rican community, attracting thousands of attendees each year.

As Digital Marketing Coordinator at Vera Creative, I had the opportunity to support the festival’s outreach and branding efforts. Most notably, I designed custom bike wraps for Lyft Divvy bikes, creating a high-visibility mobile presence throughout the city, and developed VIP eblast invitations targeting the city’s leaders and elected officials. These contributions helped enhance the festival’s visibility, engagement, and overall community impact.

Lyft Divvy Bike Design

One of my standout contributions to the Annual Puerto Rican Festival was designing eye-catching Divvy Bikes specifically for the event. Leveraging Chicago’s Divvy bike-sharing system as a mobile canvas, I infused the bikes with vibrant elements of Puerto Rican culture. The designs featured iconic symbols, such as the Flor de Maga, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, and the Puerto Rican flag, as well as doors from Old San Juan, capturing the spirit and heritage of the island. To honor the festival’s location, I also incorporated nods to the flags lining Division Street in Humboldt Park, creating a cohesive and culturally resonant visual experience.

These bikes not only enhanced the festival’s visibility throughout the city but also celebrated the Puerto Rican community in a unique, highly engaging way, turning everyday city infrastructure into a moving tribute to culture and heritage.

Latina and Proud T-Shirt Design

As part of the festival experience, I designed unique t-shirts for the Vera Creative booth to showcase our team’s support and pride for Chicago’s Latin community. The designs celebrated the heritage and strength of Humboldt Park’s Puerto Rican community, creating wearable art that reflected the festival’s spirit and reinforced our connection to the local culture.

These t-shirts not only served as engaging merchandise for festival attendees but also amplified the festival’s visibility and community pride, turning our booth into a memorable touchpoint for festival-goers.

Digital VIP

Invitations

In addition to festival visuals and merchandise, I designed digital VIP invitations for community leaders, including politicians, prominent figures, and local organizers. The design incorporated visual elements from the Divvy bike campaign, creating a cohesive, full-circle experience that tied together the festival’s high-visibility activations. These invitations played a crucial role in the lead-up to the festival press conference, helping to engage key stakeholders and raise awareness of the event among city leaders and the broader community.
