Overview
I was hired as a freelance designer to support the Alabama Election Protection Network, a collaborative of nonpartisan grassroots organizations dedicated to ensuring safe, fair, and secure elections by providing Alabamians with comprehensive information and assistance at every stage of the voting process.
My work focused on establishing a strong brand identity and building awareness across multiple channels. I designed the organization's visual identity, built and managed their website, and oversaw social media strategy and content. During the 2020 redistricting process, I developed the sub-brand “Our Districts, Our Alabama” to combat gerrymandering and engage citizens in understanding and acting on redistricting issues.
In addition, I wrote and designed a 16-page toolkit to educate the public on redistricting, covering what it is, its impact on communities, and steps Alabamians can take to get involved. My work helped position the network as a trusted resource, effectively raising awareness and empowering citizens to participate in the democratic process.
Website Design & Content
To establish the Alabama Election Protection Network’s online presence, I spearheaded the design and development of a user-friendly website that served as a central hub for Alabamians seeking comprehensive information and assistance throughout the voting process.
I focused on intuitive navigation, clear content hierarchy, and engaging visuals to make it easy for users to find the information they needed—whether checking voter registration, learning about upcoming elections, or accessing resources for election protection. The website was designed to empower citizens to make informed decisions and exercise their right to vote confidently, positioning the network as a trusted and accessible resource across the state.

Redistricting Toolkit
I authored and designed a comprehensive 16-page toolkit for the Alabama Election Protection Network, serving as a key educational resource for Alabamians. The toolkit was created to raise awareness about the significance of redistricting, explain its potential consequences, and provide practical, actionable steps individuals could take to advocate for fair representation.
Through clear, concise content paired with visually engaging graphics, the toolkit made complex information accessible and actionable. By equipping citizens with both knowledge and tools, this resource empowered Alabamians to participate in the democratic process and take meaningful action during the critical redistricting period.
As the Marketing Manager at Vera Creative, I had the privilege of working with Chicago Early Learning, a citywide early learning and preschool program. This program is a result of a partnership between The City of Chicago, The Department of Family Support Services, and Chicago Public Schools. Their mission is to ensure that every child in Chicago has equal access to exceptional early childhood education.
I had the opportunity to manage email marketing, redesign their website, and support the Director of Communications with copywriting for ongoing projects. By crafting compelling content, we effectively communicated the program's impact on parents and the community at large. During my time at Vera Creative, we saw record breaking numbers for Chicago Early Learning applications.

Brand and Identity
When tasked with establishing the brand identity for the Alabama Election Protection Network, my goal was twofold– to create a professional, polished visual identity while ensuring it resonated with Alabamians. Considering the network’s nonpartisan mission, I carefully developed a color palette that reflected inclusivity and neutrality, selecting a muted purple as the primary color. I also incorporated the shape of Alabama into the visual identity to reinforce familiarity, authenticity, and a sense of ownership and pride among citizens.

This branding work helped establish a trustworthy and recognizable identity for both the network and its critical civic initiatives, strengthening engagement and fostering community action across the state.

Social Media
Recognizing the power of social media in reaching and mobilizing people, I developed a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to the organization's unique needs and goals. This strategy encompassed platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, allowing us to connect with Alabamians across diverse demographics.
To further enhance the cohesiveness of the social media presence, I ensured that the color palette and brand elements were seamlessly integrated into the graphics and visuals shared across the platforms. This helped to reinforce the brand identity, establish recognition, and create a consistent experience for the audience.
